A Changed Time

Session 1: We Lose Everything
How we lost our house and all our worldly goods, but gained a frenemy.

(Meta note: Fie’s going to recount things from her viewpoint. Please add details of your own. As if we were recounting this story to each other later on?)

Fie Desidera stumbles out of bed. Her combat reflexes help her narrowly avoid bonking her head on the bedside table, and she feels a rush of adrenaline at the familiar sound of a yelling dragonborn. She slips out of her shift and pulls on her Imposter’s armor, which in its current form resembles a stylish but utilitarian trouser-and-vest combo, tastefully filligreed in silver and crimson. She pulls her hair back and ties it with a leather strap, hooks her shield over one shoulder and her lute over the other (“twang”), grabs her sword belt off the chair and rushes out the door, all senses on alert.

The entire place is creaking and groaning around her. So she opts to be outside for a while. Plus, all the shouting’s coming from the street. She bursts out the open front door, strapping on her sword, to realize that the entire League is already up and in action. The scene is mayhem. Crazy bead-head wizard casting nightmares, the dragonborn charging away down the street, and off in the distance, a glimpse of green cape disappearing around a corner. Meanwhile, her house and all her hard-won possessions and trinkets are slowly collapsing behind her.

With narrowed flashing eyes, Fie flips her hair over her shoulder and tugs the scabbard a bit tighter around her hips. She takes a deep breath to clear the sleep out of her mind. She’s really starting to regret not taking that spa day.

Yemmil -

I ran outside. I saw her running from us. Intimidated she turned towards us. I cast forth the power of dark dreams and her nightmare came alive. AJ transformed in front of her into a full sized dragon. Halstrom (right?) transported via flight AJ right towards the woman. She screamed in mortal terror as he flew towards her. In terror she fled into the alley.

The last four years

Over the past four years our little group has formed a tight adventuring crew. After slaying our first member of the Emerald Claw at the tower, discovering the piece of the Draconic Prophecy and surviving the creation of the Mournlands, you’re bound to bond.

There was the time that we were hired to rid that tavern of it’s giant rats only to find out it was actually a group of ratling shapechangers trying to start their own thieves guild. Fie had gotten bit and worried all night that she was going to change shape into a rabid rat. A small poultice applied by myself and a good night’s sleep took care of things, but she still has that small scar on her shin.

And then there was that incident started by Halstrom. I know he was just trying to light that lantern, while blindfolded, but it took us 3 months of saving to rebuild that barn. He’s a little too cocky but he’s great for a laugh and can always bring in a few coins when we’re running short.

And who can forget when Yemmil lost his hat over the edge of that crevasse. It took me 3 and a half hours to climb down and back just to retrieve it. You would think a wizard would have some way to magically summon his hat back onto his own head. I guess I didn’t really mind. I mean, I did steal his hat way back before we became the an adventuring group, so I guess it was restitution, kinda. But still can’t that little summoned servant of his help out a bit more?

Of course, we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for AJ’s dealings with the city guard. All those incidents that they were too busy for. Or too scared to take on. Or too lazy to investigate. He has a way with getting us a job here and there when needed.

So we’ve done our best since the war. Trying to improve our lives and those of others, and at the same time, we’ve tried to understand the prophecy and how we relate to it and to Eberron around us.

Encounter 0
The PCs come together and form a party.

You are all in the Staring Bear tavern in the village of Wroat. The village is about 10 days from Sharn. You have just started your adventuring career and are Level 1.

(INSERT from other account): In this session, our characters got to know each other through the expediencies of battle.

We were tasked by a stranger to escort / pull a wagon full of barrels. The barrels were full of a mysterious fluid, of which all we could figure out was that we didn’t want to touch them.

The first evening on the road, we came to a ruined tower, a leftover from the ancient days when the city nearby needed defending. We slowly approached the tower, and heard screaming.

After cautiously scoping out the place, we were unsure how to proceed. There were two men inside the tower, presumably guarding the screamer or the scream causer. Or both.

Fie became bored with posturing and side glances, and decided to take some action. Mustering up her not inconsiderable feminine charm, she approached the two. She was dismayed to find that they didn’t seem to notice her curves and flirts, but at least they didn’t attack. Until she decided to investigate the tower further.

A few minutes later we found ourselves surrounded by dead bodies, including one of the victims of torture we had rescued. More importantly, we found a giant seal on the floor of the tower, with archaic writing upon it. After much puzzling over the barely recognizable script, Fie interpreted the seal as a prophecy:

“The Five trees stand like stone amongsth the fire.”

Something to do with 5 trees and fire or something.

Anyway, it was a Draconic Prophecy. We, in our hubris, assumed it referred to us, since we were five and the prophecy spoke of five.

Regardless, we were tired, so we prepared for sleep. Before bedding down we jammed the dead body of the torturee in a gap in the wall, and pulled the wagon to provide some protection to us as we slept in the tower.

The next morning, we heard moans and groans outside. It seems the contents of the barrels, still on the wagon, had attracted a number of zombies or ghouls. We also heard a screeching voice from outside cackling about gold and wood or something. We found that our 50-gold advances had turned to wood. For revenge, we busted out of the tower, slaughtering all in sight, including the cackling hag who had hired us in the first place, her bodyguards, and the entire troop of zombies.

At the beginning of the battle, Big Z unwisely leapt over the wagon, isolating himself from the rest of us. He very nearly passed from this plane of existence before Fie could bring herself into range for healing.

Obviously he learned his lesson, because, four years later, we’re all still alive and living together. Fie has her own suite of course.

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
